Teacher Education Programme for Pre-School and Primary School Years 1-3

Do you want to work with the youngest pupils? To be a role-model and inspire continuous learning? If so, you should become a primary school teacher for preschool class and compulsory school years 1-3.

Teacher Education Programme in Primary Education (Preschool Class and Years 1-3) will give you the knowledge and competence needed to teach and interact with pupils' aged 6-9 years. They are curious about their surroundings and filled with the desire to know more.

Fundamental to this programme is a comprehensive view of children's learning, where different subjects are integrated in creative and interesting work models. You will study Swedish, mathematics, English, social studies, science and technology. Within the courses in educational science you will learn about leadership, social relations, group development and conflict management.

When you have your school placement, you will be able to see how theory informs practice. You have the optional opportunity to do one of your school placement courses abroad.

If your university has an agreement with our department you are welcome to join us as an exchange student.

  • Programme overview

    Teacher Education Programme in Primary Education (Preschool Class and Years 1-3) is comprised of 240 credits, which equals four years of full time studies.

  • Contact

    Several departments collaborate in your education to become a primary school teacher, but the Department of Teaching and Learning is responsible for your programme. That means that we:

    • Have the overall responsibility for your programme.
    • Plan and coordinate your studies in collaboration with the other departments.
    • Are responsible for the courses in subject learning and teaching, and the school placement courses.
