Intelligence and Security Informatics

The course provides both practical and theoretical knowledge of how information technology can be used for intelligence analysis and security-related applications.

The language of instruction is English.

  • Course structure

    The course includes:

    • Technology and method for analysis of data from the Internet
    • Text analysis: how to generate structured information from unstructured text
    • Author recognition and profiling
    • Social network analysis (SNA)
    • Psychology and psychometry
    • Influence and deception
    • Violent extremism and the internet
    • Ethical aspects

    Teaching format

    Lectures and seminars. 

    Assessment

    The course is examined through written exam and assignments.

  • Schedule

    The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.

    Note that the course literature can be changed up to two months before the start of the course.
