The article covers how experiences of fixed-term employment and subjective perceptions of job insecurity play into faculty experiences of their work environment, both for those with individual experiences of insecurity and their colleagues. The prevalence of insecure employment in Swedish higher education seems to have implications for individual faculty health and well-being as well as for the organization as a whole.

This begs the question: is it really necessary to have so much fixed-term employment in Swedish academia?
