Master's students celebrated in June

This spring, the tradition of celebrating the faculty's Master's students was resumed.

Ever since 2012, the faculty has celebrated the Master's students at the end of their education. The last two years, the pandemic put an end to the celebration, but this spring celebrations resumed. It was time to celebrate the students who started their Master's studies in the fall of 2020. Formally, the faculty is responsible for the arrangement, but in practice it was Jessica Slove Davidson and Birgitta Åkerman at BIG who arranged the whole thing.

All Master's students who had started their degree project were invited to a dinner and around 60 people accepted. The international students participated to at least the same extent as the Swedish students. In addition, about a dozen teachers and study counselors came.

The celebration took place on Tuesday, June 7 at the Proviant Albano restaurant located in the new Campus Albano. The evening did not offer inviting weather, so the large terrace was empty and the guests indulged instead in the delicious vegetarian buffet. But above all, they devoted themselves to each other - the vast majority of the students had not met in real life during the entire education, they had only seen the teachers and coursemates on Zoom for two years. No wonder the mood was high!

The students are also celebrated at the Conferment of Master's degrees graduation ceremony, with the awarding of diplomas that is shared by the entire university. But this does not happen until after graduation, and by then the international students have often already traveled home. That was one of the reasons why the faculty started their own celebration while the students are still in Stockholm.
