Rumi Engman new study administrator at BIG

Rumi Engman started as study administrator at BIG August 1st and will mainly work with BIG's Master's education.

Rumi has extensive experience in administrative work, both in companies and in authorities, most recently from Södertörn University. There she has been an education administrator for almost three years with largely the same duties as she now has at BIG. The administrative systems were also about the same and she is used to working with both Ladok and Athena.

Rumi will primarily work with the Master's programmes, while BIG's other study administrator, Aleksandra Sommertune, will take care of undergraduate education. Rumi believes that her own background can make it easier for her to familiarise herself with the situation of international students in Sweden. Rumi was born and raised in Japan. However, she met her future husband in China, where he was a Swedish exchange student. They moved to Sweden in 1999 and now have three children.

The family lives in the middle of town, so for Rumi, the long work trips to Flemingsberg became quite stressful over time. The fact that it is walking distance to Frescati is a big plus with the new job! Incidentally, walking is one of Rumi's leisure interests, preferably with a basket of mushrooms at hand. Other interests are film and travel.
