2021 - The 6th EMIC - Dynamics of Business, Economy and Society in the New Geopolitical World

The 6th EMIC takes place in Stockholm Business School of Stockholm University during May 27-28, 2021.

The conference theme is “Dynamics of Business, Economy and Society in the New Geopolitical World”. Some 30 researchers many of who are top scholars in their respective research areas have participated in the conference.

Professor Tony Fang, the initiate-taker and Program Chair of the 6th EMIC says: “The new geopolitical landscape is changing the rules of the game not only for business but also for society at large. We discuss some of the critical issues in a multidisciplinary way”.

2020 - The 5th EMIC - Globalization, Business, and Society in Pandemic Times

"Globalization, Business, and Society in Pandemic Times" took place in Zoom during May 14-15, 2020. "The Covid-19 pandemic has provided a unique opportunity for research community in social science to revisit some of the taken-for-granted assumptions to improve our theories", explained Professor Tony Fang, the initiative-taker of EMIC.

Some 40 researchers from nine countries attended the 5th EMIC this year. Professors such as Karin Berglund, Xiao-Ping Chen, Jeremy Clegg, Thomas Hylland Eriksen, Tony Fang, Pervez Ghauri, John Hassler, Li Ma, Alexey Maslov, Yadong Luo, Klaus Meyer, Hans Ingvar Roth, Jeffrey D. Sachs, Fredrik Tell, Rosalie Tung, Ivo Zander, Suisheng Zhao, and so on, spoke at the conference.

2019 - The 4th EMIC

The 4th Emerging Markets Inspiration Conference (EMIC) took place at the Stockholm Business School, Stockholm University during June 18-19, 2019.

The central theme of the conference is  emerging markets multinationals in the emerging era of anti-globalization and new technology cold war. Some 35 participants most of who are research-intensive scholars from various academic areas have attended the conference.

Professor Tony Fang, SBS, the initiative taker, says: The central theme of this year’s 4th EMIC is both relevant and timely. The growing global awareness on climate change and the ongoing US-China trade war have tremendous implications for international business in theory and practice.

2016 - The 1st EMIC

The 1st Emerging Markets Inspiration Conference (EMIC) was successfully held at Stockholm Business School, Stockholm University on April 12, 2016. The 1st EMIC conference programme included 22 presentations with various inspiring themes derived from emerging markets related research. The conference served as an intellectual forum bringing together researchers from China, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, and UK.
Professor Jeremy Clegg, Professor Fredrik Tell and Professor Tony Fang were the three keynote speakers who encouraged more research initiatives directed towards emerging markets topics for inspiration and theory rebuilding.
